Does
it hurt?
Pain is really relative - everyone has a different tolerancy to pain.
Many people describe piercings as uncomfortable for a second or two, but
the piercing is usually completed that quickly! Many people are nervous
getting their first piercing, and realise that their expectation of the
pain is far worse than what it actually feels like. Put it this way -
millions of people have them done, so it can't be that bad!
How much will
it cost?
Prices depend on the piercing required and types of jewellery. Please
call for current prices.
How old do
I have to be to get pierced?
The legal minimum age in the UK is 18; however you can be pierced at age
16 with a parent's consent.
Are piercings
safe?
Yes, as long as you use a reputable piercer that is following all recommended
safety precautions! The Tattoo Station follows the very strictest standards
of piercing and hygiene, and we are fully Local Authority Registered which
means we are inspected and certified regularly.
Can I still
get pierced when I'm sick?
Getting a piercing when your immune system isn't at its best isn't a good
idea. You'll need your strength and your white blood cells to heal your
piercing, something your body won't be able to do if it's already doing
battle against virus and bacteria. Not to mention the fact it's inconsiderate
to bring your illness into the studio and risk passing the germs onto
your piercer! If you have an appointment, call and reschedule for when
you're feeling well again.
Alcohol and
drug usage
We will refuse to pierce anyone who appears intoxicated or under the influence
of drugs.
Is it infected?
If you follow our aftercare instructions, you won't have any problems.
However, if you think your piercing might be infected, don't wait for
it to get worse! Speak to us immediately, we will then tell you if you
should see a doctor. Signs of infection are severe pain, hot redness,
unexpected swelling, a pus discharge (with or without the presence of
blood), or a foul smell from the area. Infection that is not properly
seen to can result in serious health consequences including septicemia
(blood poisoning).
Piercing and
blood donors
In the UK, you cannot give blood if you have had a tattoo or piercing
within the last 6 months - and if you have had a tattoo or piercing outside
of the UK within the last year you may need an additional test before
being allowed to donate blood. Click
here for official guidelines via the National Blood Service site.
