"You have only one skin, one body - make the most of it"

During the healing period it's important to care for your tattoo properly. Do not listen to friends etc on how to look after your tattoo - the only person you should take advice from is your artist.

Remove your dressing after an hour and wash gently with warm soapy water (unperfumed soap) making sure any traces of blood are gently removed. Gently pat (don't rub) the area dry with a clean, soft towel.

Apply a thin layer of the recommended cream to your new tattoo, carefully but firmly working it into the skin. Repeat this process 3 times daily for as long as directed by your artist.

After a few days a thin, dry layer of skin will start to peel away from your tattoo. If a heavy scab has formed, you have not taken proper care of your tattoo as directed - contact your artist for advice. Improper care can result in loss of colour, scarring and a poor looking tattoo.

If you have taken care of your new tattoo, it can be healed in 4-14 days (depending on the size and placement). The Tattoo Station uses the most up-to-date tattoo methods available, and will not be held responsible for any tattoo failures after the dressing is removed.

For the first 2-3 weeks:

DO apply your cream as recommended, 3 times a day

DO eat properly, and drink plenty of water to help your skin heal. Arnica tablets can help with swelling and bruising, and a good multivitamin with Zinc aids the body with healing.

DO NOT scratch, pick or rub at your new tattoo;

DO NOT soak your tattoo;

DO NOT sunbathe or use sunbeds;

DO NOT shave, wax or depilate the area;

DO NOT go swimming;

DO NOT contaminate the tattoo with dust, oils, paint or greasy substances.
